Almost everywhere I go, or during any conversation, almost always, someone will ask me, “So how’s the real estate market?”
It’s a general question and every realtor will probably have a different answer, depending on their personal current experience or production. If a realtor sells 5 homes per month, he or she will most likely say that the market is booming and another realtor that maybe sells a house every 3 months, will tell you that the market is not doing well at all.
A better question to ask your realtor would be to inquire what percentage of change (either appreciation or depreciation) has occurred in the market in the past 6 months?
It is a more dynamic question and plus, you will see if your realtor knows what he or she is talking about.
Again, all information will be from personal experience and other’s experience. Your best option is also to piggy back on Google and search your local real estate market and Google offers free news updates immediately to your email.
So to answer the question… ” How is the San Diego market doing now?”, I would have to tell you that it is amazing!! Inventory is somewhat lower than normal, but yet there are plenty of properties to find almost at every price point. In addition, interest rates are still very low and most banks and mortgage brokers offer an array of flexible loan programs to fit almost everyone.
We are clearly our of the real estate recession and we have seen house prices appreciate since 2009.
